ELSIE SHERWOOD

Elsie M. Sherwood, 92 of LaGrange, Missouri, died April 22, 2024 at the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, Missouri.

Elsie was born on September 23, 1931 at Taylor, Mo. to Harry Frederick and Florence Ethel Hornaday Warning.

Elsie graduated High School in 1949 and had worked at Motorola in Quincy, Illinois and Logsdon Oil, Dream Vision, GM Electronic and Casey’s all in LaGrange, Mo. She enjoyed watching basketball games and the St. Louis Cardinal’s. She loved taking care of her many pets and spending time with family, quilting and traveling.

She was united in marriage to Bert Sherwood and to this union were born five children, Roger Lynn (Vicki) Sherwood, LaGrange, Mo., Karen Sue (Danny) Casey, Lorraine, Il., Jimmie Douglas Sherwood, Paris, Ky., Neal Ray (Tammy) Sherwood, Troy, Mo. and an infant daughter Carolyn Sue Sherwood who passed away in 1946. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Crystal Dawn (John) Gaus,Kahoka, Mo., Jamie Lynn Corey, Quincy, Ill., Jimmie (Andra) Sherwood, Jr., Molissa, Tx., Ashley Dawn Sherwood, Quincy, Ill., Andrew Joel Sherwood, LaGrange, Mo., Christopher Ray Sherwood,Troy, Mo., Megan Elizabeth Sherwood, Canton, Mo. and Zachary (Jessica) Brewster, Kahoka, Mo.; great-grandchildren, LaChrisha (Justin) Florea, Peyton Holder, Makayla Corey, Katherine Corey, Abbigail Corey, Andrew Corey, Erica (Tanner) Harrison and Dayla Gaus; several great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, Stephen (Debbie) Baum, Keokuk, Ia. and niece Linda (S. Michael) McCully, Bloomsburg, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Carolyn Sue Sherwood, infant great-great-grandson, Austin Corey, two sisters, Naomi Lois Warning and Maxine Madge Baum and four brothers, Harry Leroy, Paul Edward, Austin Eugene and William Otis Warning.

According to her wishes cremation rites have been accorded and no services scheduled.
