Canton Main Street invites you to their 3rd Annual Pelican Bob Car Show and Blowin’ Smoke BBQ Cook-Off along with the River Bluffs Paint Out on Saturday, May 4 in downtown Canton. Rev up your engines and show off your new or classic cars, golf carts, motorcycles or boats! Registration and line up for the cruise is from 11:00 - 12:00 at Ayers Oil Co. parking lot at 610 N. 4th St. There is a fee to enter. 1st and 2nd place prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Classic, 1990 & Newer, and Got Wheels (boats, motorcycles, race cars, golf carts, etc.). A People’s Choice Award will be given to the car with the most votes from spectators. A car cruise will be held from 12:00 - 1:00 and will start at Ayers Oil parking lot. The car show will take place on Lewis Street from 4th to 2nd Streets from 1 - 4:30. Awards will be announced at 4:30. For more information about the car show contact Alex George at (573) 406 - 2930. Music will be provided by C Major Sounds. Specially designed 2024 Pelican Bob Car Show T-shirts are available to order at Design-It, located at 202 Charlann Schwann Parkway, Canton, Mo. An online store is set up on Canton Main Street Association Inc’s Facebook page to place orders as well. Kids ages 2 - 15 can enter their bike, trike, scooter, wagon or anything with wheels in our Kiddie Car Parade at 3:00. Prizes for the best decorated will be awarded in the following categories: 0 - 3 year olds, 4 - 8 year olds, 9 - 15 year olds and Power / Motorized Wheels. Line up for the parade will be in front of the Canton Post Office on Lewis Street at 3:00. Prizes will be awarded after the parade at 3:30. There is no cost to enter. Enjoy delicious BBQ at the first annual Blowin’ Smoke BBQ Cook-Off presented by Heartland Barbeque Society from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m on Lewis Street in the new Canton City Hall parking lot between 4th and 5th Streets. Competitors are welcome to join in the cook-off by contacting Jim Crenshaw at 573-822-9339 or Kelly Ray at 660-651-9286. There is an entry fee. Deadline to enter is May 2. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best barbeques. Ten dollar wristbands will allow patrons to sample barbeque throughout the afternoon. Soda and water will be available to purchase from Canton Main Street Association. Specially designed Canton Blowin’ Smoke T-shirts and sweatshirts are available to order at Design-It. An online store set up on Canton Main Street Association Inc’s Facebook page is available to place orders as well.

A variety of vendors and non-profit groups will be set up on Lewis Street from 4th to 5th Streets from 1 to 5 p.m. There is still time to sign up to be a vendor. Canton American Legion Post 170 will be selling hotdogs and giving out small flags with each hotdog purchased. Canton Friends of the Library will host a book sale fundraiser from 12:00 - 3:00 inside the building between City Hall and the Pour House at 103 N. 4th St.

A Lewis County ambulance and Canton fire truck along with Canton Fire Auxiliary will be available for kids to visit at Lewis and 5th Street. Canton Police Chief Tycher Blakely and Canton police officers are hosting an open house at the Police Station at 108 N. 5th St. from 2 - 6 p.m. Refreshments provided. The 7th Annual River Bluffs Paint Out will also be going on throughout the day in Canton. Artists of all ages from the region as well as artists across the Midwest will paint and capture the river, natural beauty, architecture and quaint locales in the outdoors, en plein air, in and around Canton during the event. The day ends at Gather event venue located at 507 Clark Street with an art show and sale from 5:00 - 6:30 of art painted from the day. Three cash prizes will be awarded plus a People’s Choice award with an awards presentation at 6:00. The public is invited to vote for their favorite painting and an opportunity to purchase a one–of-a-kind Canton painting and meet the artists.
