Daniel W. Goings, 74, of Durham, Missouri, died October 16, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Daniel was born October 16, 1943, in Maywood, Missouri to William and Edith Katzel Goings.

Daniel was first married to Faith Jane Stumb and she preceded him in death. He later married Elizabeth Jones McDermott on March 28, 2011 in Ewing, Missouri. She survives.

Other survivors include 1 daughter, Christina Goings (Rusty Gupton) of New London, MO, 4 step children, Sharon McDermott, Heather Davis (Dwight), Donald Whitaker (Kali) and Jennifer Stajduhar, 1 brother, Terry Goings(Betty)of Durham, MO, 3 grandchildren, John Bevis (Amanda), Anthony Snow, Justin Snow (Leerona) and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers, Sam Goings, Roger Goings and Melvin Goings.

Daniel retired from Knapheide Manufacturing Company in Quincy, Illinois as a welder after 35 years of service.

Daniel was a talented musician, playing Bluegrass, Country and Gospel Music. He could play anything with strings, playing guitar, the mandolin and the fiddle.

Life's simple pleasures were Daniel's favorites; attending the livestock auction in Palmyra, watching a good western on TV and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball. Daniel was also a gifted cook often cooking supper for the family. Most of all Daniel cherished the time he shared with family. Daniel was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Ewing, MO.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO. Brother Elmer Hagood will officiate. Pallbearers: John Bevis, Justin Snow, Anthony Tallman, Dwight Davis, and Mark Carpenter.Honorary pallbearer: Phil Thomas.

Friends and family are invited to Daniel's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 18 Wednesday at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Burial will be at Maywood Cemetery in Maywood, Missouri.
