Mr. Robert Wayne White Sr., 88, of La Grange, Mo., died April 16, 2015 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

He was born September 6, 1926 in Palmyra, Mo., a son of John Thomas and Lucinda Hartman White. He married Dorothy Eileen Arnold on June 9, 1949 in Palmyra. She died on January 10, 1987.

Wayne was a truck driver for several years. He also worked as a Foreman in the Iron Dept. at Gardner Denver Foundry in La Grange for 33 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, visiting with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and was well liked by all. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Wayne was an Army Veteran of WWII serving from 1944 to 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific, Philippines and Japan. He was a recipient of the Great River Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2011.

Survivors include four children, Kathryn White of La Grange, Robert Bob (Loann) White of Phoenix, AZ, John White of La Grange and Larry (Brenda) White of La Grange; grandchildren, Angela M. White, Ryder White, Bettina Wainwright, Todd White, John Thomas White Jr., Mikala White, Joshua White, Rachel Perry, Nathaniel (Natty) Nelson and Josh Nelson; 18 great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren; one brother, Paul (Betty) White of Palmyra; one sister Lucille White of Palmyra and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, Harry E., Winston, John T., Gilbert and Donald White, two sisters, Louise Copeland and Delores White, two brothers in law Kenneth Copeland and Russell White, granddaughter, Tiffany White and two daughters in law Donna White and Penny White.

"Rest easy our father sleep well you have held the line and your job is done. Well take over where you fell the line is held, farewell".

Funeral services were held April 20, 2015 at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Pastor Jeff Serafin officiating. Pallbearers: Ryder White, Joshua White, Dale Begley, Charles Wayne Begley, Bob Gard and Mike White.

Burial with military honors was in Memorial Cemetery in La Grange.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Great River Honor Flight in care of Davis Funeral Home, La Grange, Mo.
