Burglary Arrest

May 05, 2020

On April 28th, 2020 the Sheriffs Office received a tip that the male suspect caught on video from the weekend burglary in the Taylor area of Lewis County was riding a bicycle in Canton. Chief Deputy Jerrod Eisenberg was in the Canton area and made contact with the suspect who was still on a bicycle. He spoke with the suspect, later identified as Quintez Cissna, for a few moments before Cissna fled on foot.

Chief Deputy Eisenberg apprehended Cissna a few minutes later and placed him under arrest for fleeing from a law enforcement officer. He also located a backpack that Cissna had thrown onto a rooftop. Upon searching the rooftop he discovered a stolen handgun from Adams County, Illinois.

On April 29th, 2020 Quintez J. Cissna, age 19, of Quincy, Illinois was formally charged by Assistant Prosecutor Chelsea Hoffman with Resisting/Interfering with arrest for a felony, a class E felony, and Receiving Stolen Property, a class D felony, for possession of the stolen firearm. Further charges are pending in relation to the vehicle break ins and burglaries that occurred last weekend. The investigation continues.

Cissna is currently on misdemeanor probation through Adams County, Illinois.

He remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail on no bond. The Sheriffs Office was assisted by the Canton Police Department, the Adams County Sheriffs Department and several community members. We thank them very much for their help.
