St. Patrick News

by Myrna Daughtry

Mike and Karen Benning, Albuquerque,NM, were home last week visiting his mother, Thelma Feldkamp.  I got to see them when they came to the St. Patrick Cemetery to visit family gravesites.

Heartfelt condolences to Corrie Noble and family on the passing of her mother, Glenda Brown.  Corrie and Carson Noble and their family, live at the Lake of the Oaks.

The St. Patrick community was excited to host the Antioch Homemakers Club last Wednesday.  Sandra (Owens) Ebeling, Kay (Hunziker) Cameron, Norma

(Roach) Bower, Joyce (Cameron) Eaton and Patsy Moody were treated to an historical tour of the Shrine of St. Patrick and visit to the Old Irish Gift Shop.

The group also enjoyed their “Tour Bus” ride to see the sights at the Lake of the Oaks and Oak Hollow Campground.  It was a fun afternoon for all of us.

Congratulations to Rick and Tina Uhlmeyer on becoming grandparents for, I believe, is the ninth time!  Ryan and Katelyn Uhlmeyer welcomed a daughter, Andrea Kathleen, on September 17th.   I’m sure great grandmother, Kathleen, is smiling down on all of them.

A reception was held last Wednesday after mass for Fr. Rob Fields in honor of his birthday.   Everyone enjoyed all of the great food that was provided by the parishioners for the evening.

Last week, Danny Daughtry, Bruce Uhlmeyer, Mark Whiston and Jim Gorrell  enjoyed another great day of fishing on the Mississippi River.  I think we need to plan a fish fry for all the catfish they are catching!

Dick and Noreen Whitney just returned from a two week vacation to Wyoming where they visited family.   I’m very glad they are back because I told Noreen that our peach tree is loaded and ready to be picked.  From these peaches, Noreen makes the best Peach Butter preserves that we offer for sale at the Old Irish Gift Shop.

So glad to welcome Janet (Schutte) Kolten back to the St. Patrick community.  Janet has purchased Jordan and Savannah Logsdon’s property located close to the west entrance to the Lake of the Oaks and will be moving in the next two weeks.

Fr. Rob Fields would like to extend a warm welcome to attend the weekend mass at the Shrine of St. Patrick, held every Saturday evening at 7:00pm.  The parishioners are planning a fundraising Soup Supper to be held on November 13th, with all proceeds raised going to the Toys for Tots program.  More details to follow!
