Culver-Stockton Hosts Art Day

The Culver-Stockton College Art and Design Department hosted an on-campus High School Art Day on March 22, 2022. Thirteen area high schools participated and approximately one hundred students attended workshops and competed for awards.

Students were able to choose from classes such as wheel throwing, graphic design, basketry, sketching, scene design, printmaking, origami, dream catchers, music & art, theatre makeup and gesture drawing. All courses were taught by faculty and students. Patrick Hotle displayed his fencing expertise as the students learned the art of gesture drawing.

Elaina Dyke from Hannibal High School won Best of Show in oil pastel. with entry Petals and Brooklynn Fuller, Scotland County, won Best of Show in graphite with entry Willow. Artistic excellence awards were presented to Highland’s Natalie Crowley and Nic Myers in colored pencil. Honorable mention was awarded to Sylvia Reid for ceramics and Sydney McChristy for acrylic, both from Highland.
