General Municipal Election Results

April 13, 2022

Lewis County held the General Municipal Election on April 5, 2022 with 1,052 ballots cast or 17.53 percent of registered voters going to the polls.

Listed are the unofficial results: Proposition R asked the voters of Lewis County whether or not to continue the Common Road District 1 of Lewis County tax levy of 21 cents per hundred dollars valuation for a period of four (4) years, per Article 10. Section 12A of the Constitution of Missouri. This is an existing tax approved by the voters in 2018. This tax brings in around $120,00.00 per year and is used directly for the maintenance of roads and bridges. Voters approved 731 to 307.

Proposition P asked voters to change the Lewis County Prosecutor’s position from a part-time position to a full-time position. The proposition failed with 584 no votes and 461 yes.

Proposition K.I.D.S. passed with 403 yes votes to 82 against. The proposition for the Canton R-V School District allows the school district to borrow $3.4 million for the addition of an Early Learning Center for preschool age children and other improvement projects.

Canton R-V School Board Members: Michelle Frazier 400 and Thomas E. Sally Jr. 367 were elected.

Winners for Canton Alderman-Ward 1-Patti Mathieson; Ward 2-Dan Steinbeck and Ward 3-Jeff Janney.

In LaBelle Alderman-North Ward- Kari Kaylor; South Ward- Robbie Walter and Beverly J Roberts.

Ewing Alderman-Ward 1: Simon R. Thrower Jr. R-4 Fire Protection Dist. Board Member Bryan Jennings was elected.

LaGrange Road Dist. Board Member Lonnie Meyer received 20 out of 43 write in vote.)

In Lewistown, the three candidates were unopposed, Mayor Stephen McKenzie; Alderman-First ( North) Jeffery Huebotter and Alderman-Second (South) Ward Aaron Lay. Lewistown Question to forego annual election if the number of candidates filed is equal to the number of positions passed with Yes 42 and No 16 votes.
