Lions Club Fishing Derby
The LaGrange Lions Club hosted their annual Fishing Derby on June 11, at Agate Lake at Wakonda State Park. Kids ages 16 and under enjoyed a morning of outdoor fun. Door prizes and prizes for largest, most and smallest fish caught were given away. Pictured are the young fishermen, alone with Lions Club members volunteering at the event including Raymond Nichols, Darrell Cottrell and Robyn Cottrell, Cory and Leslie Moon. Lion’s members not pictured included Robert Corbin and Ed Heller. Wakonda State Park Superintendent Kyle Scott also helped with the event. This fishing tradition began many years ago by Lions Club member, the late Russell Heindselman, who was an advocate for teaching the wonders of nature and the joys of fishing to young and old alike.
