Walk with Ease Comes to Canton The Lewis County Extension Office is proud to announce that the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk with Ease program is coming to Canton. This program, taught by MU Extension Nutrition and Health Education specialist Jenn Eldridge, is designed to provide arthritis relief and may help anyone seeking to stay active and stay connected. Any adult who does not exercise regularly can benefit from this program, even if they do not have arthritis. This program is designed for those who are just starting out, but active walkers a welcome to join the group as well. In this program, participants will learn how to exercise safely and comfortably, create a doable walking plan and have a group to help keep them motivated. This six-week program meets three times a week at Mississippi Park RV Campground from 2:30-3:30 Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting Sept. 26th. The Missouri Regional Arthritis Council, in partnership with the Lewis County Extension Council and the City of Canton, is offering this program free of charge to all who enroll. If you are interested in joining this walking program, please call the Lewis County Extension office in Monticello at 573-767-5273. Jenn says, “I have met so many great people in Canton and can’t wait to come back and teach this class. I provide a bit of health information at the beginning, then we warm-up, stretch and get to my favorite part, walking and talking. I love getting to know folks and see them become more confident and fit every week.” If your group would like Jenn to lead this Walk with Ease program with your organization or group anywhere in the Lewis, Clark, Scotland or Knox County area, please let her know by calling your local University of Missouri Extension Office.
