COREY ALAN BRINGER

February 01, 2023

Corey Alan Bringer, age 45 of Canton, Mo., passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 in his home surrounded by family.

He was born on June 5th, 1977 in Quincy, Ill., a son of Michael Bringer Sr. and RoseAnn (Stinson) Bringer. He was a lifelong resident of Canton, Mo. He graduated from Canton R-V in 1996 and Culver-Stockton College in 2000.

He married Amy Lynn Hoewing on June 8, 2002 at the Canton Christian Church, Canton, Mo. She survives. They are the proud parents of Blake and Noah.

Corey worked at Canton Police Department from 1999-2009. He served as Chief of Police for over 8 years. This was his passion, his love, and he impacted so many. He accomplished wonderful things for the department during this time and had the privilege and honor of working alongside his big brother Mike.

After leaving law enforcement, Corey worked at Hoewing Trucking for 5 years with his brothers-in-law, whom he absolutely admired. He loved driving a truck and working with his family. Later, as his last employment, and before his health declined, he was employed by Bleigh Ready Mix. He started out as a driver, which he greatly enjoyed, but quickly moved to a batcher. This was where he belonged and felt most at home. “Concrete Strong”, was a phrase the family frequently used during Corey’s final days.

Corey was involved in many ways in the community, as a mentor for young athletes, a teacher to many, and helped anyone without question.

Corey’s love for his family, especially his boys, was his true calling. From supporting them and their love of sports, to teaching them the importance of hard work, accountability, and respect. He loved everything about being a father. He was the true definition of a family man. Whether Corey was teaching Blake how to be the man of the house or perfecting Noah’s basketball shot, there was no job that was more important or that made him more proud.

His love for his wife did not go unnoticed. Corey and Amy were high school sweethearts and had just recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. The love they shared showed their sons the meaning of friendship, devotion, and strong faith.
He is survived by his wife, Amy and two sons, Blake and Noah, all of Canton. He is also survived by his mother, RoseAnn Bringer, a brother, Michael Bringer Jr. (Traci), and a sister, Heather Bringer.

Other survivors include his mother-in-law Sharon Hoewing, brothers-in-law Scott (Tab) Hoewing and Mark (Cindy) Hoewing. Nieces and nephews whom he loved and was very proud of: Austin (Morgan) Hoewing, Kristen Bringer (Grant O’Bryan), Bailey (Bryce) Boudreau, Nick (Cassie) Bringer, Cole Hoewing, Sydnee Hoewing, Treyton Bringer, Brady Hoewing, Cameron Bringer and Ansley Bringer. He was also a proud great uncle to Emilia and Russell Hoewing and Cohen and Collyns O’Bryan. A special aunt and uncle Bob and Cheryl Zeh also survive along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Michael Bringer Sr., an infant sister Misty Lynn Bringer, maternal and paternal grandparents, and several uncles.
