LOVIE LEE ROSENBLATT RICHARD

Lovie Lee Rosenblatt Richard 93, of Canton, Missouri, died October 11, 2017 in the Lewis County Nursing Home.

She was born March 25, 1924 in Philadelphia, Missouri, the youngest child of Nancy Caroline Butler LaFoe and Samuel Lee LaFoe. Her siblings, upon seeing her, told their parents that she was "Lovey Dovey" and she was named Lovie.

She married Melvin Rosenblatt in 1950. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1989. She then married Chiles Forrest Richard in 1995. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1997.

Lovie enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, making and painting statuary and visiting with her friends, especially Dorothy Sullivan, Lonnie Kitsent, Bernie Murphy and her honorary granddaughters from the Saints Cafe in Canton, Missouri, Dawn and Lori who called her G'ma. She and her husband Melvin ran movies in the local parks in the 1950's. Later they owned and operated the Bruce 88 Cafe in Canton, Mo. They owned the Tic Toc Motel in Taylor and later Kountry Koncrete Kastle also in Taylor. She also managed several restaurants in the area.

Survivors include her cherished grandchildren, Tammy Sue LaFoe (Donnie Dent) of Knox City, MO, Debby Foust (Danny) of Keokuk, Iowa, H. Jeff White (Debbie) of Williamstown, MO and F. Jack White of Payson, IL; eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a nephew Larry LaFoe (Sandy).

Lovie was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Melvin and Chiles, her beloved daughter Carolyn Joyce White, her brother Samuel Rhodes LaFoe, and her sister Gladys Mae Shoup.

Graveside services were held October 16, 2017 at Philadelphia City Cemetery in Philadelphia, Missouri.
