EDNA BUCKNER
Edna M. Buckner, 89, was called to her heavenly home Saturday January 13, 2018
from Country Aire Retirement Estates, Lewistown, Mo. Born in Hunnewell,
Mo., Edna was the daughter of the late George and Recia Anna Robbins. She was a
lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Quincy, Ill.
Edna was renowned in the restaurant business in Quincy for many years being
known especially for her biscuits and gravy in several establishments including
Black Angus, Stewart's and Taylor's Country Kitchen.
In her later years, Edna indulged her love of the little ones by working at Cheerful
Home. Following that, she worked at Quincy Peoples Savings and Loan and
American Savings Bank.
Edna Buckner was predeceased by her parents, her husband, William E. Buckner,
Sr. and one son, Gregory Alan "Buck" Buckner. Also, sisters Bessie, Ellen, Irene,
and Ora Lee; brothers, Arthur, Clarence, Daniel, Harold and Smithy; as well as
several nieces and nephews.
Edna is survived by her son, William E. Buckner, Jr. (wife Marsha), grandchildren,
William Tyrone "Ty" Buckner, Troy Stuke, and Trina Karl, a nephew whom she
raised as a son, Robert Leon Robbins, and one sister- in- law, Vernie Robbins as
well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at the Coder Funeral
Chapel, La Belle, Missouri at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday January 20, 2018 followed by
a service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by her nephew, the Reverend Lindell Robbins.
