Patricia "Patsy" Cartwright, 85, of Morristown, Tennessee, died Feb. 28,  2020. She is remembered for her gracious, dignified, manner, warm sense of humor, and devotion to family.

Mrs. Cartwright grew up in the Mississippi River town of Canton, Mo., where she graduated from Culver-Stockton College with a degree in education and business administration. While teaching elementary school, in River Grove, Illinois, she was engaged to Jack, her devoted husband of 62 years, whom she had met in college.

As a longtime resident of Morristown, Mrs. Cartwright was an active member of her community. She served as a deaconess and elder at First Presbyterian Church and volunteered with CEASE and Soma Sala. After her children were raised, she worked part time at Morris Wood Tool Co., Inc.

In addition to her husband, John "Jack" Wood Cartwright, she is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Cartwright Austin and her husband, Stephen Neil Austin, of Signal Mountain; grandchildren, Miller Beth Goan, of  Murfreesboro, and Jackson Lee Goan, of Morristown;  brother Edward Hardin and his wife Marcia Kirchner Hardin, of Canton, Mo.; brother Robert Hardin, and his life partner, Janet Stoerger, of Chicago, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Cartwright was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Cartwright Goan.

In memory of Mrs. Cartwright, a celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 14 from 1 to 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Morristown.

A private burial will be held at Bethesda Cemetery at a later date.
