Friends of Ewing Community Park

July 28, 2020

As of December 2019, the park committee, which has been instrumental in planning, fundraising, grant writing, and helping maintain Ewing Community Park, has been officially incorporated as a 501-c3 nonprofit, tax exempt organization with the new name "Friends of Ewing Community Park." As such, the organization is now eligible to receive tax deductible donations and bequests.

The original group was formed in 2005 when the park was being established. In cooperation with the City of Ewing, they wrote the original DNR grant for the park's creation. They have continued to work with the City Council to develop and improve the park. This group has also organized and carried out the various fundraising activities that help fund park improvements. In the past this has included expanded playground equipment, paved parking, benches, picnic tables, and tree planting. Recently the group has contributed to building a second shelter house and expanding security video surveillance.

Fundraising for the group has primarily been through the annual Park Party and Car Show, held on the first weekend of August. While it will not be held this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the group hopes to continue the tradition next year.
