Jack Dean Steinbeck, 66, died Dec. 28, 2020, with his family by his side at his home in Omaha, Nebraska after a long and valiant fight with pancreatic cancer.
Jack was born October 14, 1954 to parents Joe and Evelyn (Bentley) Steinbeck of Lewistown, MO.

Jack grew up in Lewistown, Mo. He was a lifelong student. He graduated from Highland High School in 1972 and Gem City College in 1974. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, a Bachelor of Arts from University of Rochester Institute of Technology and completed a Master of Business Administration at the University of Wisconsin. He taught classes in bank operations, bank accounting and leadership verbal communication.

Jack began his career at the age of fifteen at the Lewistown State Bank and worked at numerous banks and businesses ending his career at Capital Express in Omaha. Jack was a hard worker and known for his integrity and character, as well as finishing all work, no matter how difficult the assignment. Jack held licenses in securities, mechanical license, operations and lending. He also assumed leadership roles in the Missouri Banking Association, Oregon Banking Association, Western Bankers Association, and Bank Security Officer of Kansas City. He was a member of the Optimist Club.

Jack loved spending time with his children. Some of his favorite pastimes were taking road trips with family, home improvement projects, and watching movies and reading books to his children

Jack is survived by five children; Jason (Ashley) Steinbeck and grandson Jonah, Auxvasse, Mo., Jacklyn (Riley Jr.) Pryor and granddaughter Rilyn, Ewing, Mo; Kristia (Tom) Haney and grandchildren Sophia and William, Grand Forks, ND; Jillian (Kevin) Woodworth and grandson Milo, Racine, WI; and Juliea (Tamren Cardwell) Steinbeck, Omaha, NE. Also surviving are brothers, Joe (Rita) Steinbeck Jr., Rio Rancho, NM; and John (Peggy) Steinbeck, LaGrange, Mo; nieces Joelle (Darren) Goodwin and grandnephews Gabriel and Adam, Palmyra; Amber (Phillip Dupount) Steinbeck and grandniece Caden, Kansas City, Mo; Kimber (Joey Stutsman) Steinbeck and grandnephews Brendon, Connor, Cooper and Devin, Canton, Mo; nephew Jeff (Rachelle) Steinbeck and grandnephews Randle and Jacob, Shelton, WA., and Jack’s Chows, Sully and Olaf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents, Bill and Katrina Bentley, and paternal grandparents John and Elsie Steinbeck

A celebration of Life Service was held Jan. 2, 2021, at the John A. Gentleman Pacific Street Chapel in Omaha.
