TERESA (MARTIN) PHELPS

Teresa (Martin) Phelps, 80, of Canton, MO, died January 16, 2021 at her home in Canton, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Hannibal, MO on March 10, 1940 a daughter of Cornelius and Thelma Williams Powell. She was united in marriage to Donald Martin on August 3, 1958 in Canton. They were married for 42 years and had two children, a daughter, Debi of Flint, MI and a son Rick of Canton. After his death on September 15, 2002, she married Cecil (Bud) Phelps on February 14, 2009 in Hildgo County, TX and they were married for 12 years.

Teresa and Donald were avid antique collectors and owned an antique store in Canton for many years. After Teresa and Bud married they traveled every winter to Texas. She loved the warm weather. She truly enjoyed flea markets and finding that special antique.

Survivors include her husband, Bud, of Granite City, IL; a daughter, Debi Geisenhaver and friend Loren Wetenhall of Flint, MI; son, Rick Martin and wife Brenda of Canton; two grandsons, Shane Martin and wife Tonia of Hallsville, MO and Brian Martin and wife Bethany of Hazlehurst, MS and one sister, Vonnie Malatin of Mayer, AZ.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Donald Martin, grandson Adam Martin and two sisters.

Memorial services were held January 19, 2021 at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton with Pastor Brian Stone officiating. Music: “I Can Only Imagine” & Go Rest High on that Mountain”

Inurnment was in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton. Visitation was held prior to services.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of N.E. Missouri in care of Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 108, Canton, MO 63435.
