ELPHA JUNE LAY

Elpha June Lay, 84, died Jan. 12, 2021, in Springfield MO after a long illness. 

June was born May 23, 1936, in Paris, Missouri, to Leonard Huxley and Elpha Marvel (Brown) Long. After her father's death and her mother's remarriage, June was adopted by her step-father, Austin "Pop" Kindred. 

June was married February 11, 1956, in LaGrange, Missouri, to Joe B. Lay of Springfield. 

June was very active in her church in the Missouri communities in which she lived including Springfield, Gainesville, Ava, Wheaton, Monett and Republic. At the time of her death she was a member of Brookline Baptist Church. 

June is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joe, her children, Cheryl (Rick) McGee of Ozark, Joe Jr. (Sara) of Monett, Mike (Michele) of Monett and Debra of Springfield, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a brother, Len Kindred of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.
