GARY K. GLOVER

Gary K. Glover, 80, of Canton, MO died February 21, 2021 in the Lewis County Nursing Home at Canton, MO. He was born at the Canton Hospital on July 15, 1940, in Canton, MO, the son of Dr. A.D. and Mildred Haselwood Glover.
Gary graduated from Canton High School in 1958 as Salutatorian of his class. He attended Culver Stockton College for one year before transferring to the University of Missouri at Rolla where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1962.
Gary and Karen Gutekunst were married on July 7, 1962, in Quincy, IL, and to this union one daughter, Julie A. was born.
Gary began his career as a design engineer for Westinghouse Electric Company in Pittsburgh, PA and Buffalo, NY before transferring to California to work on the San Francisco Transbay Tube project. He moved to the Los Angeles area in 1968 when he was subcontracted by Jet Propulsion Laboratories/NASA to design satellite tracking systems. While still working for JPL Gary founded Ventus Energy in the late 70’s. His company designed and installed vertical wind axis turbines in Palm Springs, CA. His windmills were depicted in the movie “Rainman”. He also served as a consultant to Kintronics Lab in CA and TX. At the time of his retirement in 1988 he held 17 design patents. Following retirement, Gary returned to Canton and began planting 10,000 walnuts on a 25 acres plot of ground at the family farm in Newark, MO. His most enjoyable hobby was gardening and giving away his family heirloom tomatoes. Gary also enjoyed day trading stocks.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie Glover of Quincy, IL; one brother, Dr. Don (Cynthia) Glover of Peoria, IL; one sister, Janet (Ed) Watson of Ewing, MO; three nieces, Dr. Sarah (partner, Mark Lentzkow) Glover and of Peoria, IL, Angie (David) Franz of Ballwin, MO and Jackie (Shawn) Steckler of Quincy, IL; three great nephews, three great nieces and two cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made to, the Canton Council of Churches Food Pantry, Immanuel United Methodist Church or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
