La Belle Death Investigation:

The Lewis County Sheriff's Department released the following information.

On July 16th, 2021, emergency personnel were called to the William C. Steffen residence near La Belle, Missouri. Mr. Steffen, age 81, was found deceased outside his residence. Lewis County Coroner, Larry Arnold, pronounced Mr. Steffen deceased at 9:01a.m.

Due to the suspicious nature of his injuries, an autopsy was completed on July 20th at the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office. Further and final results are pending until forensic analysis is completed.

This matter remains an open investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office or the MSHP Division of Drug & Crime Control located at Troop B in Macon, Missouri.
