NAOMI GORDON

Naomi Marie Gordon, 83, of Quincy, Ill., died August 24, 2021 at her home.

Naomi was born September 7, 1937, in Onaga, Kan., to Earl and Wilma (Woods) Bradshaw. She married Robert Gordon on April 19, 1973 in Quincy, Ill. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2000.

Naomi was a homemaker and home health aide at Sunset Supportive Services Home Care and Addus Home Care for many years. Naomi was known for having a “green thumb” with the ability to make any flower thrive. She would often make floral arrangements for different holidays and special occasions. Naomi loved shopping at yard sales and thrift stores, with the Salvation Army being her favorite place. She enjoyed watching The Voice and The Bachelor on television. Naomi loved her family, friends, and coworkers, and enjoyed visiting and talking with them. Her love of dancing brought soreness, injuries, and lots of laughter. Naomi will be remembered for her positive attitude and the smile on her face.

Survivors include her seven children, Rose (Joe) White, Novinger, Mo.; Peggy (Steve) Johnston, Maywood, Mo.; David Lay, Quincy, Ill.; Larry (Sheryl) Lay, Lewistown, Mo.; Lois (Brad) Pruett, Marcie Lay (Alonzo Richardson), and Angie Deming all of Quincy, Ill.; five siblings, Wayne Bradshaw, Kansas City, Mo.; John (Karla) Bradshaw, La Grange, Mo.; Viola (Dick) Williams, Canton, Mo.; Ralph (Karen) Bradshaw, Williamstown, Mo., and Donnie (Linda) Bradshaw, Ewing, Mo.; 24 grandchildren, Tisha (Ibrahem) Abdelaziz, Gina (Wes) Pargeon, Beth (Marcus) Brown, Tonya Lair, Jason Walker, Tara Schroder, Tasia Lay, Charles Lay, Roman Lay, Samantha Lay, Lisa Lay, Tammy Lay, Annie Dosier, Melissa Lay, Joseph Lay, Christopher (Kayla) Andrews, Shane (Caylene) Andrews, Nathan (Megan) Andrews, Christina (Scott) Leasman, Kristin Washington, Darren (Krista) Forrest, Brittanny (Rod) Stratman, Haley Prewitt, and Brianna Pruett; 48 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Naomi was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepmother, Elizabeth Bradshaw; brothers, Roy Bradshaw and Earl Mark Bradshaw; Aunt Catherine Robinson; and Uncle Arthur Bradshaw.

A funeral service was held August 30, 2021 at the O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, Ill. Chaplain Dave Hall officiated. Pallbearers: Joseph Lay, Shane Andrews, Christopher Andrews, Kendall DeMoss, Brady Bowen, Sterling Lair, and Cole Lair.
Burial was at Sunset Cemetery in Quincy, Ill.
