Glenn Dean Smyser, 59, of Ewing, Mo., died September 1, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.
Glenn was born October 22, 1961; the son of Roy Smyser and Dorothy Sanders Smyser.
He fiercely loved his wife and daughters and best dog, Tilly. Glenn was a man of deep faith who loved attending church on Sundays, mowing the yard and relaxing on the beach. His favorite thing in the world was supporting his girls as they participated in the activities they loved so much. He worked tirelessly over the years volunteering his time to coach numerous softball teams and support the Highland Booster Club. He especially enjoyed going to tractor pulls with his neighbor, John.

Everywhere Glenn went, he found someone to talk to. He always had a smile on his face. He would whistle or sing while doing the simplest of tasks. Glenn was known for wearing shorts year-round, his white ball cap and his outstanding Christmas light display.

Glenn made sure to tell his family that he loved them every day without fail. He was the greatest husband and father they could ever ask for.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 22 years, Erin; daughters, Alexis (Nate Veihl), Samantha (Jace Jagger), and Reagan (Dylan Schroeder); sister, Virginia Ranville; special cousins, Gayla Curry and Brenda Gunlock; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Hazel Smyser, and sister, Lanette Burda.

Funeral services were held September 6, 2021. at the Durham Baptist Church in Durham, Mo., with Rev. Ted Middleton and Rev. Patrick Wilson officiating. Music: Life By the Drop and Make You Feel My Love. Pallbearers: Nate Veihl, Jace Jagger, Dylan Schroeder, Brad Gunlock, Gary Whitaker and Phillip Whitaker. Honorary Pallbearers: John Shumate, Stace Fusselman, Kevin Truluck, Justin Truluck, Jeremy Wright and Ethan Wright. Visitation was held September 5, 2021. at the Durham Baptist Church. Burial was in Durham Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Glenn’s wife, Erin Smyser, to assist with Glenn’s extensive medical expenses and final burial costs.
