DONALD MILLER

Donald (Don) Roy Miller, 80, died September 21, 2021, in the Knox County Nursing Home.
He was born July 1, 1941 in rural Knox City, Mo. Don was the son of Roy Eno and Diamond Doris Walter Miller. He was united in marriage August 2, 1965 in Edina, Mo., to Marilyn K. Fisher and they have been married for 56 years.

Don graduated from High School at Knox City, Mo. Don and Marilyn moved to the Colony area in the fall of 1967 and have lived on the same farm since 1974. In his earlier working years, he drove a propane truck and farmed with his Dad. Don and Marilyn farmed, raised cattle, sheep and hogs over the years.  He loved his family very much and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities and taking them on tractor rides and fishing.  

Don never met a stranger and was known for his humor and for being “one of the great ones”.  He loved trapshooting, playing pitch, fishing, quail hunting and spending time with his friends and family.  Don owned and operated M&F Trapfield for 30 years on their farm, with his neighbors and friends always pitching in to help. His trap shoots were well known for the great food and Friday derbies.  He had many friends near and far. 

 Don is survived by his wife Marilyn Miller of Colony, Mo.; two children, a son, Jim Miller and wife, Sarah of Colony, Mo., and a daughter, Sherry Baker and husband, Curtiss of Kirksville, Mo.;  four grandchildren, Luke Baker of Mexico, Mo., Carly Miller of Kansas City, Mo., Riley Miller of Colony, Mo., and Gracie Baker of Kirksville, Mo.; two brothers, Michael Miller of Knox City, Mo., and Mark Miller of Tracy, Ia.; two aunts, Millie Hamlin of Edina, Mo., and Beulah Turpin and husband, Russell of Edina, Mo.; two brothers-in-law, John Fisher of Philadelphia, Mo., and Jerry Fisher and wife, Cindy of LaGrange, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, lots of cousins and his faithful companion (his dog) Big John.  

Don was preceded in death by his parents, a very loving brother, Danny Miller, his in-laws, Hank and Ella Mae Fisher, his brother-in-law, Jim Fisher and several nieces, nephews and cousins

Graveside services were held September 27, 2021, in the Colony Cemetery. Reverend Doug Wilson officiated.  Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, Mo.
