St. Patrick News

by Myrna Daughtry

The Shrine of St. Patrick parishioners would like to thank everyone who attended their Soup Supper last week.  This was a new fundraising activity  for the Shrine of St. Patrick and the “Toys for Tots of Clark County” was very appreciative of our efforts.

Melody Uhlmeyer, Teresa Woodworth and Myrna Daughtry enjoyed a day of shopping last Thursday in Coralville, Ia.  Had to admit it was a little odd to be shopping in person again, but really had a great time and love being out and about.

The St. Patrick Community Betterment Group donated to the Canton R-5 fundraising activity raising money for a new mascot uniform.   If you would like to donate to this wonderful cause, please contact Carla Arnold at Canton R-5 School for additional information.   I’m sure it would be greatly appreciated.

The St. Patrick area was filled with a lot of deer hunters over the weekend.  Thankfully, the weather was better than Friday with the chilling wind and snow flurries.  After seeing  that, I realized just how much I am dreading the winter weather ahead of us.

Mark and Teresa Woodworth recently travelled to Tacoma, WA.  with their daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Cameron Hays of Jacksonville, Il. and grandchildren, Aspen and Lincoln, to visit their son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Oanh Woodworth, who live in Tacoma.  Thomas is a Green Beret combat medic assigned to the 1st  Operations Group at Ft. Lewis.  Despite intermittent rain and clouds, the family enjoyed sightseeing in Tacoma, Seattle and Port Townsend and hiking trails and several area parks.

The time is fast approaching – November 27 -  to have your request for Wreaths in for the Wreaths Across America Day to be held at the Shrine of St. Patrick Cemetery on December 18 at 11:00am.  Please send your donation and request to Wreaths Across America, P.O. Box 12, St. Patrick, Mo. 63466.  If you have any questions, please call Myrna Daughtry at 660-754-6198. The Shrine of St. Patrick parishioners will be having a Soup/Sandwich luncheon immediately following the Ceremony.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Gloria Allen (11/10), Susan Kirchner (11/13) and John Brennan (11/17) and hope they had a wonderful day!

The St. Patrick community was sad to hear of the passing of Eileen (Boudreau) Kirchner who was buried at the Shrine of St. Patrick cemetery on Wednesday,  November 10.  Eileen was very proud of the fact that she was born on St. Patrick’s Day and lived in the St. Patrick area.
