Donald Dee “Chappy” Chapman, 82, of Ursa, Ill., died Nov. 10, 2022  at Good Samaritan Home, Quincy, IL. He was born on August 29, 1940 in Ewing, Mo., to James Samuel and Goldie Zuspann Chapman. He married Lawana Jane Nichol on July 24, 1967. She survives in Ursa.

As a young man he worked for local farmers around the Ewing area and then was employed by Tenk Hardware. He became a Machinist, working at Hollister Whitney for 38 years. To keep busy after retirement, he repaired small engines and his favorite, John Deere lawn mowers. 

An avid country music and western movie fan, “Chappy”enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and traveling with family including a trip to Hawaii. Another favorite activity he enjoyed was early morning “meetings” for coffee at the Ursa Cafe with the crew where he continuously “stirred the pot”. 

Survivors include sister-in-law, Carolene Keller, Fowler, Ill.; niece, Tammy (Linda) Beeler, Lake Dallas, TX, nephews, Stacy (Nicole) Beeler, Marceline, Ill., Wayne (Jenny) Beeler, Fowler, Ill., Curtis Beeler, Ursa, Ill.  Also, six great nephews, one great niece, one great-great nephew, cousins and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and her husband, father and mother-in-law, brothers-in-law and aunts and uncles.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 16 at 11:00 am at the  Triplett Funeral Funeral Home of Mendon. Visitation was held Nov. 15 at the Triplett Funeral Home of Mendon, Ill.

Burial will immediately follow at New Providence Cemetery, Ursa, Illinois.

Memorials for Donald Chapman are to the Parkinson’s Foundation and the Good Samaritan Home of Quincy.
