ROGER LEE COTTRELL

Mr. Roger Lee Cottrell, age 79, of St. Charles, Mo., formerly of LaGrange, Mo., passed away, Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Peters, Mo.

Roger was born September 16, 1943 in LaGrange, Mo., a son of Bert and Lorena Hoskins Cottrell.  He married Nancy I. Foust on August 18, 1962 in Osage Beach, Mo.  She passed away, January 3, 2021.

Roger was a member of the LaGrange Christian Church. He worked at the LaGrange Foundry for over 30 years and was a founding member of the local Glass Molder’s Union. He served as their financial secretary.  After a long career at the foundry, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Roger was a very good carpenter and methodical in his work, building his own home which he was very proud of.  His life skills were instilled and passed on to his children who will always remember his example of how he loved and nurtured his family.

 Roger was a volunteer with Heartland Resources delivering meals in the area for several years and served on the LaGrange Medical Clinic Board.  He also enjoyed fishing when he was younger and telling stories about his childhood days.

Survivors include one daughter, Lori (James) Davis of O’Fallon, Mo.; one son, Tony (Keri) Cottrell of Canton, Mo.; grandchildren, Rebecca (Matthew) Gallagher of O’Fallon, Mo., Andrew (Emma) Cottrell of LaGrange, Mo., Hannah Cottrell of Brentwood, Mo., and Elizabeth (Grant) Koeniguer of Nashville, Tenn.; step grandchildren, Logan Davis of Pasadena, Tx., Alexis Vivas of Cypress, Tx., and Mason Davis of Pasadena, Tx.; great grandchildren, Nicholas Green of O’Fallon, Mo., Peighton Gallagher and Madison Gallagher both of O’Fallon, Mo., and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Bert Richard Cottrell.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange, Mo., with words of comfort by Keri Cottrell. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange, Mo. Pallbearers: Kevin Cottrell, Andrew Cottrell, Grant Koeniguer, Matthew Gallagher, Curtiss Foust and Nicholas Green. Music: “Thank You for being my Dad” by John Barker, “This is my Song” by Voces8.

Burial will be in Mark’s Cemetery in LaGrange, Mo. 

The family suggests memorials be made to Heartland Resources in care of Davis Funeral Home, La Grange, Mo.
