Wildcats Open Track Meet
The Culver-Stockton College men’s and women’s track teams competed at their home meet, the Wildcat Open on April 22.
For the Culver women’s team, Emma Smith placed second in the 100-meter dash. Malia Carmack finished third in the 400-meter dash. Delaney Straus placed second in the 800-meter run and finished fourth in the triple jump. Shannon O’Neil finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and also placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles. Kiana Ortiz placed second in the javelin.
On the men’s side, Verlyn Johnson placed first in the 100-meter dash. Drew Mallett finished fourth in the 100-meter dash and placed first in the 200-meter dash. Reid Savage placed second in the 110-meter hurdles. The 4x400 relay team of Drew Mallett, Anthony Havens, Jr., Nathan Greene, and Verlyn Johnson had a first place finish. The 4x100 relay team of Reid Savage, Drew Mallett, Anthony Havens, Jr., and Verlyn Johnson also had a first place finish.
The following seniors and their families were honored during the meet on Saturday: Sean Cleary, Anthony Havens, Jr., Melanie Hubbs, Verlyn Johnson, and Dani Morgan.
The Wildcats are scheduled to compete in the Viking Classic at Grand View University on April 28 in Des Moines, IA.
