Congressman Sam Graves, (MO-06), Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, announced that the Lewis County Regional Port Authority has received a Port Infrastructure Development Program (PIDP) Grant.
The $11.091 million grant will fund the creation of a new 200-foot cargo dock, 1.62 miles of access road and the purchase and installation of a 400 linear foot conveyer system and related cargo handling equipment in Lewis County.
“The creation of a new port site on the Mississippi River is a big deal. The river is an incredibly effective and efficient mode of transportation and developing this port in Lewis County will enable folks from around the region to get their products where they need to go. I know Lewis County has innovative plans in mind for this port site and I look forward to its development,” Graves said.
“Congratulations to the Lewis County Regional Port Authority, Port Director Ralph Martin and the Northeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission on securing this funding.”
