Steve Richard (Kebe) Phillips

Steve (Kebe) Richard Phillips, age 62, of Canton, MO died November 26, 2023 at his home near Canton.

He was born May 16, 1961 in Williamstown, MO a son of David Nathan Sr. and Edna Marilyn McIntosh Phillips.  He married Stephanie Ann Owsley on July 10, 1982 in La Grange, MO.  She survives.

Kebe enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, golfing and participating in activities at the PCC&H farm.  He also took pleasure in watching his daughter play softball and his son skateboard. He was an avid NASCAR fan and Arizona Cardinals Football fan.  He loved playing the guitar and especially enjoyed blues music.  As his “Love Kitten” would tell you, Kebe liked storytelling and was a jokester.

He had a variety of jobs including at the family sawmill, carpentry, many years as a letter carrier and a truck driver at UFC.  He built the house where his family has lived for over 20 years.

 He is survived by his wife Stephanie of Canton; his children, Chase Phillips of Hannibal and Allison Phillips of St. Louis; siblings, Marilyn Garrels of Keosaqua, Linda (Dan) Shirey, Angela (Rock) Schaller, Yvonne Dudgeon and Carmon Lindsey all of Canton, Pam (Randall) Briscoe of Williamstown, and Gretchen Phillips of Kahoka; sister-in-law Lora Phillips and brother-in-law Jerry Lair both of Williamstown; sister-in-law Tina Birck of Canton, sister-in-law Nicole Owsley of Palmyra and father-in-law Steve Owsley of Canton, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Donna Nelson, Shirley English, Mary Jane Page, Vickie “Vi” Lair, Robin Phillips, Wayne “Jake” Murphy, Sr., Oral “Butch” Murphy, David Phillips Jr., Rocky J. “Brov” Phillips, and mother-in-law Andrea Owsley.

The family would like to thank his caregiver, Stacy Harris, for the wonderful and compassionate care she provided to Kebe for the last year.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Eagles Club in Canton.

The family suggest memorials be made to the ALS Association or to Shriner’s Hospital for Children in care of Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 108, Canton, MO 63435.
