Library Features Alliance Art Artists

March 27, 2024

The Canton Public Library welcomes artists from Hannibal’s Alliance Art Gallery for a group exhibit during the month of April. A Guest Artists Reception in their honor will be held on Thursday, April 4th from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Canton Public Library. All are welcome to meet the artists, view their artwork and enjoy refreshments provided by the Canton Area Arts Council.

The Alliance Art Gallery, located at 121 N. Main in Hannibal, is home to the artwork of over 20 local artists working in a variety of mediums.

The Library will host several of the Alliance Art artists. Guest artists may include Dennis Babbitt, primarily a landscape painter influenced by the Hudson River School; Patricia Garey, whose paintings often capture the beauty of the Mississippi River Valley from St. Paul, MN to New Orleans; Pat Kerns, whose paintings reflect her fascination with ordinary objects; Veronica Sandercock, a ceramicist who evokes a soft and floating quality in her pottery; Debra Scoggin-Myers, a former Culver-Stockton professor and past Guest Artist who specializes in art reflecting life in Northeast Missouri; Connie Stephens whose photography stimulates the imagination; Adriana Brown, who works primarily with acrylic and watercolor and is committed to making others feel seen, heard, and inspired through her artwork; and artist Elizabeth Brown.

The library is located at 403 Lewis St. in Canton, MO and is open Tuesday through Friday 9 AM - 6 PM and Saturday 10 AM - 2 PM. Visit the library at www.cantonmopubliclibrary.org, on Facebook at Your Canton Public Library, or call 573-288-5279.
