JAMES RAYMOND LOVELACE

James (Jim) Raymond Lovelace, age 82, of Palmyra, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 in his home.

Jim was born in Hannibal, Mo., a son of Benjamin and Ethelyn Young Lovelace He was married to Sharon Jean Akright Davis on July 4, 1979 in Taylor, Mo. She survives.

Jim especially enjoyed camping at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family, loved fishing and hunting, and traveled throughout the United States but loved being out West. In his spare time, he enjoyed mushroom hunting, woodworking in his shop, and rewatching old western movies.

Jim farmed all of his life. He also worked at different factories around the Quincy, Hannibal and Palmyra area. He was a carpenter, plumber, electrician and a shade tree mechanic. There was really nothing that Jim could not do.

Jim attended church at Bethel Baptist Church. Jim was loved by family and friends and will be missed by all.

Jim is survived by three children, John D. Lovelace of New London, Mo., Jeffrey D. Lovelace of Hannibal, Mo., and Jill D. Phillips (Roger) of Palmyra, Mo.; as well as four stepchildren, John L. Muehring, Jr. (Jenny) of New London, Cory L. Muehring (Linda) also of New London, Shawn M. O’Brien (Tim) of Palmyra and Jennifer A. Siebers (Gary) of Payson, Ill.;

Grandchildren Trevor Chandler, Jaelyn Chandler, Jake Lovelace, Josh Lovelace, Heather Semkin, Levi Muehring, Kelsey Myers, Tanner O’Brien, Jeorgia O’Brien, Devon Muehring, Kylie Moss, Cortney Muehring, Waylon Muehring, Wyatt Siebers, and Gus Siebers. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lloyd Lovelace.

Graveside services and burial will be at Bethel Baptist Cemetery near Palmyra, Mo., on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dewayne Larenson officiating. Friends and family are invited to Jim’s graveside services

The family suggest memorials be made to the Bethel Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Trevor Chandler, Jake Lovelace, Levi Muehring, Wyatt Siebers, Gus Siebers, Tanner O’Brien, Devon Muehring, Waylon Muehring and Dane Lovelace.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jim Meyers, Ed Meyers, John Muehring, Jr., Cory Muehring, Clint Allen, Brad Bimson.
