Ruth Ann Marsh, 80, of LaGrange, Mo., died, May 9, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Hannibal, Mo.

Ruth was born March 16, 1944, in Quincy, Ill., to Earl McElfresh and Charlene Gutherie McElfresh.

She married Gary D. Marsh on March 21, 1964, at Marblehead Methodist Church in Marblehead, Ill. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1994.

Survivors include her two daughters, Kellie Kroencke (Dale), Wentzville, Mo., and Nancy Nell (Tracy), Hannibal, Mo.; brothers, John McElfresh, Center, Mo., and Mark McElfresh, Chatham, Ill.; sisters, Norma Jean Grafton, Hull, Ill., and Betty Sparrow, Quincy, Ill.; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one expectant great grandson; nieces and nephews and grand dogs.

Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jimmy McElfresh; and grandson, Derek Kroencke.

Professionally, Ruth worked at Casey’s in LaGrange, Mo., for many years.

Ruth was an avid fan of the Game Show Network. Ruth’s passion for cooking was well known among her friends and family, who were frequently treated to her delicious fried chicken, goulash, and beef stroganoff. She cherished the quiet moments spent sitting on her deck. A true fan of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Ruth’s love for Elvis Presley was unmatched. Ruth was a woman of love and mischief, always ready with a joke or a playful prank. Her ornery demeanor was part of her charm, endearing her to everyone she met. Her love for her grandchildren, family, and her cherished dogs was immense.

Graveside services and burial, May 13, 2024, at Akers Chapel Cemetery in Hull, Ill. Pastor Barry L. Pfister officiated.

James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Mo., were in charge of arrangements.
