The Country Aire Auxiliary held a meeting May 1, 2024, on the front porch of the facility in Lewistown, Missouri. The Auxiliary is a group of community members that work to support and encourage the residents of C.A.R.E.  They raise money to purchase Christmas gifts for the residents as well as other items that will remain at the home to enrich the lives of the residents. Auxiliary members not only visit all of the residents, but also take turns providing favorite snacks and homemade sweets for the residents. One lady provides live piano music for their pleasure each month. They also assist with any activities they are requested on to help.

Recently, three members of the Auxiliary started renewing the Courtyard at the facility: Jamie Bowles, Kim and Monica Fleer of Lewistown, MO.  Four new chairs, several new plants, seed packets, bags of potting soil were purchased by the Auxiliary. Tomatoes, peppers and a resident’s strawberry plant were potted. In the future tables will be added and more chairs, along with some form of shade.

The Courtyard is an enclosed outdoor area where residents can safely get fresh air and sunshine and enjoy the outdoors.

The Auxiliary also hosts an annual fall soup and chili luncheon to raise funds for all types of projects as well as for Christmas gifts.

The Auxiliary is a volunteer organization that welcomes new members, even if you only have a few hours to spend. Alyce Montgomery is our dedicated president. Donations may be sent to C.A.R.E. Auxiliary, P.O. Box 144, Lewistown, MO 63452. Anyone wanting to join or help the Auxiliary can also call C.A.R.E. for more information. Giving one’s time to the resident is heart-warming and rewarding for both the recipient and the givers.
