SHERRY BARTZ

Sherry L. Bartz, 74, of Maywood, Missouri, died on May 24, 2024 in Columbia, Mo. She was born on March 3rd of 1950 in Quincy, Ill. She married Clarence Bartz. He preceded her in death in December of 2023.

Sherry worked as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Home and then for many years at the Illinois Veterans Home. Sherry was affectionately known as, ‘Grandma Tootsie Roll’. Sherry was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Sherry is survived by three children, Sherry Lee Powell (Jason) of Quincy; Thomas Butler (Kelly) of Maywood, Mo., and Jordan Bartz of Maywood, Mo.

Six grandchildren, Emily Robertson (Brad), Breanne Powell, Abigail Powell (Austin Goldizen), Tegan Butler, Allie Smith (Garin) and Kelsea Snider (Justin) and great-grandchildren, Azriel, Grayson, Gianna, Amelia, Avia, Braxton, Harper, and Fallon.

A sister, Phyllis Cheney of Quincy, Ill., and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Robert Boernson and her mother Dorothy Jones along with her husband Norman, and siblings: Sue Walton, Mary Hickerson, Goldie Knuffman, Norman Jones and James Jones.

Friends and family are invited to a Memorial service that will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the First Assembly of God church in Ewing, Mo. Flowers, memorials and expressions of sympathy are welcome but please deliver to Sherry Powell or to the First Assembly of God church in Ewing for the memorial.
