Canton Library Hosts Great Canton Bake-Off

Do you have a cookie recipe that everyone raves about? Are you the go-to person in the family for homemade birthday cakes? Whether you are a seasoned baker or a beginner, Canton Public Library wants you to enter The Great Canton Bake-Off.

In the style of The Great British Baking Show, the library will host two competitions. Adults and teens may compete, either individually or in family/friend groups. Participants may enter one or both competitions. Pre-registration is required.

Friday, June 28 at 6:00 PM is the first competition, The Signature Bake. For the Signature Bake, bakers are asked to provide at least 12 Chocolate Chip Cookies with a special twist that makes them uniquely delicious.

Friday, July 26 at 6:00 PM is the second and final competition, The Showstopper. For the Showstopper, bakers are asked to provide a Book-Lover’s Decorated Cake worthy of being the centerpiece at a celebration. The cake can be a layer cake, or a sheet cake, but must be inspired by a favorite book or book character.

Bakers will prepare their baking creations at home and bring them to the library by 6:00 PM on the date of the competition. Bakers will present their bakes to the judges who will score them based on Adherence to Criteria, Presentation, Originality, and Taste.
