GARY FREEMAN

Gary P. Freeman, 74, of Mendon, Illinois, died July 11, 2024, at his home in Mendon.

Gary was born in Quincy, Illinois on June 4, 1950, to Paul T. (Tommy) and Barbara J. (Lay), Freeman. He graduated from LaGrange High School in 1968. He married Patricia Rose and they spent 35 wonderful years together. 

Gary was a 4H Member, he showed horses, Chester White Pigs, and a Grand Champion Calf. He was a welder and a fabricator who loved to make anything out of metal. He was a Diesel Tech at BFI, Missouri Central Stone, and Prairie International until his retirement in 2010. Gary was a member of the 10 Mile Baptist Church in Canton, Missouri. Gary was a Harley Davidson enthusiast who enjoyed building and riding motorcycles, during which time he gained many lifelong friends. He also loved being out in his garden and being on his tractors. His love of animals, especially his cat Skittles, and being outdoors enhanced his generous nature. He was blessed to have his loving grandchildren, whom he absolutely adored. Gary will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Gary is survived by his wife Patricia Rose-Freeman; sons, Richard M. (Michael) Rose, Mendon, Illinois, Paul T. (Tommy) Freeman and his wife Paige Freeman, Springtown, Texas; and a daughter, Elizabeth R. Freeman and Joshua Williams, Van Burensburg, Illinois; grandchildren Collin D. Johnson, Louis O. (Otto) Rose, and Gabriel M. Rose, of Ursa, Illinois; and a brother, Rick (Marcia) Freeman, LaGrange, Missouri; Nephews, Chad (Tamara) Freeman, Bridgeport, Texas; Chuck (Tracy) Freeman, Denver, Colorado. 

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandparents.

Funeral services were held July 15, 2024, at Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon, Illinois.

Interment was at Mendon Cemetery.
