MARY JEAN BOLTON

Mary Jean Wiegand Bolton, age 66, of LaGrange, Mo., peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 25, 2024, at Hannibal Regional Hospital. Mary was well loved by family and friends.

Mary Jean was born August 6, 1957 in Quincy, Ill., to Robert “Bill” and Alice (Roberts) Wiegand. Mary Jean graduated in the top 10 of her class from Quincy High School. Mary Jean moved with her family to Quincy when she was 4, she always felt LaGrange was her home. She married John Wesley Bolton on October 8, 1988, in Quincy. He survives. In 2020, Mary Jean returned to her beloved town of LaGrange.

Mary Jean was a member of Frist Baptist Church LaGrange where she took part in Sunday School class, Bible studies, VBS, helped with funeral dinners and was assistant treasurer.

Mary Jean was a small lady who loved big. She was always willing to help someone in need and offer a smile. She had a great gift for making others feel valued by spending time with them. Mary Jean loved spending time with kids, and they loved spending time with her. Kids were often drawn to Mary Jean because of her stature. What she lacked in height, she made up for in care and compassion.

Mary Jean enjoyed bluegrass sessions with her husband. She enjoyed cooking, reading and watching Kansas City Chiefs football. In her later years she enjoyed watching nature. Mary Jean could always be found at sporting events of her great nieces and nephews. She loved them and they loved spending time with her.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by two brothers, Possum Wiegand (Sally) of Durham, Mo.; Doug Wiegand (Terry) of Springfield, Mo., and sister-in-law Kathy Morgan (Ron) of Mendon, Ill. Nieces, Lindsay Caudill (John) of Lewistown, Mo.; Stephenie Wiegand (Bobby) of Durham, Mo.; Nephews, Michael Wiegand (Jacqueline) of Kansas City, Kan.; Quinton Wiegand of Weston, Mo. Several great nephews and nieces, and numerous cousins and special friends.

Mary Jean was proceeded in death by her parents, in-laws Clare and Ruth Bolton, brother, Richard Wiegand, and nephew Joseph “Joey” Wiegand.

Arrangements for cremation have been handled by the Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange, Mo. There are no formal services scheduled at this time.
