Civil War Battle Re-enactment

The City of LaGrange will host a three-day event September 13-15 with the Battle of the Mississippi. Full battle reenactments will be at 2 p.m. on Sept. 14 and 15 on the Mississippi riverfront. Spectators can view from the west side of railroad tracks. Camps will be set up in Mineral Well Park along Main Street. Battles are expected to be 30 to 45 minutes in duration. Lawn chairs encouraged. Camps will be open to the public at 9 a.m. Living history exhibits will be featured through out the weekend and local schools have been invited for the living history events on Friday morning.
The night time cannon shoot will be Saturday evening beginning at dark. The cannon shoot is an interesting event to view and to hear the sound echoing down the Mississippi River. The Lions Club will serve food from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 14 in their air-conditioned building on Main Street across from the Mineral Well Park.
Sunday September 15, Camps open to public at 9 a.m. and Church services will be held at the camps. Everyone invited. Living history exhibits from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. with the Civil War battle at 2 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy learning about history and talking with re-enactors.
