Odie Lee Cook Sr., age 63, of Erlanger, KY, and previously of Canton, Mo., passed away Monday morning September 16, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, Ky., surrounded by his family.
He was born November 8, 1960 in Hart, Mich., a son of Griffin Lee and Mildred (Leo) Olson (Sherwood) Cook.
He married Cathrine Madge Curtis in Dover, Mo., on January 8, 1983. She survives.
Captain Odie was a dedicated Towboat Pilot for 47 years. He was a member of Craft Lodge #287 A.F. & A.M. in Canton, Mo. He enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife, karaoke at the Patio, and car shows and racing. Most of all Poppy enjoyed his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Canton, Mo.
Odie is survived by his wife, Cathy of Erlander, Ky.; his mother, Mildred Olson of Kahoka, Mo.; children, Adam (Nikki Brinkman) Cook of Burlington, Ky., Odie (Tracy Schmitz) Cook of Erlanger, Ky., Samantha (Joseph) Williams also of Erlanger, Ky., and Mark Cook of Paducah, Ky.; grandkids, Corban Stilts, Addyson Cook, Charlette Cook, Sydney Humphrey, Odie Cook 3rd, Sierra Schmitz, Oakley Cook, Sonoma Schmitz, Abigail Cook, Joseph Williams Jr, Savannah Williams, Sabrina Williams and Owen Cook; siblings, Susan Roberts of Wayland, Mo., and Mike Cook of Keokuk, Ia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Griffin Cook, brother, Glenn Cook Sr., and step-father, Leo Olson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 with a Masonic Service beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in Canton, MO with Pastor Paul Kinney officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Canton.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Craft Lodge #287 of Canton, Mo., or to Shriners.
Honorary Pallbearers: Corban Stilts, Odie Cook 3rd, Addyson Cook, Oakley Cook, Abigail Cook, Owen Cook, Joseph Williams Jr., Savannah Williams, Charlette Cook and Sabrina Williams.
