WILLIAM “BILL” BUCKWALTER
October 02, 2024
William “Bill” Buckwalter of rural Lewistown, Mo., died in his home on September 28, 2024.
He was born June 18, 1954 a son of John and Ruth (Pollard) Buckwalter. He grew up near Monroe City, Mo., and graduated from high school in 1972.
He married Sharon Lund and they had 4 children: Traci (Johnny) Sparks, Johnny (Kim) Buckwalter, Jake Buckwalter, and Tami (Billy) Porter. They farmed together for many years and enjoyed being participating members of the North River Old Iron Club. Bill and Sharon owned a boat for several years of their marriage and Bill loved to drive it wide open to see how high he could get a tube rider.
He was previously married to Debra Goehl and to that union was born Carl (Lisha) Buckwalter, Craig (Darcy) Buckwalter, and Cyle (Kelly Boll) Buckwalter.
Bill enjoyed being a truck driver for most of his working life. His best accomplishment in life was running his “Papa’s Daycare” where he was well known for stating it was closed only on February 30th and 31st of every year.
Bill loved to see his grandkids whether it was while they waited between school and an evening activity or just to come visit for awhile. He always had their favorite snacks on hand to share and particularly enjoyed soggy chips with animal cartoons as they spent the time they had. A favorite activity Bill and Sharon had was spoiling grandkids with an inside bounce house and jungle gym slide.
Bill is survived by his wife and children. Bill is also survived by his grandchildren: Jace, Jade, PJ, Chloe, Kaylin, Avery, Makenna, Patience, Cole, Lauren, Blake, Bryce, Camrie, Taylor, Nora, Promise, Boyd, Rylee, Paislee, and Priscilla. He is survived by his siblings: Wallace Buckwalter of Moberly, Mo., John Buckwalter of Kirksville, Mo., Harriet (Danny) Stroupe of Olathe, Kan., Jeanne (Steve) Kendrick of Rensselaer, Mo., and Debi (Herb) Hernandez of Plaquemine, L.A. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters-in-law Amy Buckwalter, Pat Buckwalter, and nephew Vincent Buckwalter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Ewing, Mo., with Rev. Elmer Hagood officiating.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning, October 5, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the First Assembly of God Church in Ewing.
