Elvin David Parrish, age 77, of LaBelle, Mo., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family,
Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Mo. He was born June
23, 1947, in Mountain Grove, Mo., the son of Verley Leo and Helen Elizabeth Hubble Parrish. He was
united in marriage to Barbara Jean Morrow, on June 6, 1970 in the LaBelle First Christian Church.
Elvin attended LaBelle School. He would later serve his country proudly, as a member of the United
States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. He obtained the rank of E4 Specialist and was
Honorably discharged in 1968. Elvin worked at Morrow’s 66 where he would meet his future wife and
best friend of 54 years. He then owned and operated Elvin’s 66 for many years before he and Barbara
became the owners and operators of Lumley Locker which served the community for 24 years.
Elvin was a member of the Knox City American Legion. He enjoyed collecting toys, cracking jokes,
listening to George Jones and spending time with his family and friends, most importantly the love of his
wife Barbara.
Surviving are his wife Barbara Jean Parrish, three children, David (Jennifer) Parrish of LaBelle, Mo,
Amanda Parrish (Les) Whitley of Franklin TN, and Kevin (Amy) Parrish of LaBelle, Mo., seven
grandchildren, Jackson, Noah and Samuel Parrish, Kurt Whitley, Dustin, Dillon (Lorin) and Dalton
Hoffman, five great grandchildren, Hudson, Willow, Liv, Gavin and Weston.
He is also survived by two sisters and brother-in-law Mary Kaye (Randy) Bronestine, Susan Lay, and
several nieces and nephews.
Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Elmer and Ivan Parrish, one sister Elizabeth
Faye Lund and his father and mother-in-law Cecil D. and Marjorie June Morrow.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, October 7, 2024 in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Mo.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and services will begin at 12 noon. US Army Chaplain (retired) Michael
Thomas will officiate services.
Burial with full military honors will be held in the LaBelle Cemetery conducted by the Missouri Military
honors team and Lewistown American Legion Post # 578.
Bearers will be grandsons, Jackson Parrish, Noah Parrish, Samuel Parrish, Dustin Hoffman, Dillon
Hoffman, Dalton Hoffman, and Kurt Whitley. Honorary bears will be Curtis Smith, Derek Smith, Garin
Smith and Tony Grove.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice. Memorials may be left at or mailed to
