Parade of Champions

The 33rd Annual Parade of Champions will be Oct. 12 in Kahoka with more than 20 high school marching bands Participating in the parade and field show competition. This year’s event, sponsored by the Clark County R-1 Fine Arts Boosters, promises a thrilling lineup of performances that will delight music lovers from across the region.
The parade will feature a full slate of area bands, giving marching band fans an exciting opportunity to see these talented students compete as they wind through the streets of Kahoka. The parade route takes bands along the west side of the square before turning onto Main Street and continuing east to the high school. Leading the way will be an Honor Guard, with the parade kicking off at 2 p.m. Participating schools in this year’s parade include South Shelby High School, Knox County High School, Quincy High School, Davis County Middle School, Quincy Notre Dame High School, Hannibal High School, Schuyler County R-1 Middle School, Warsaw High School, Keokuk High School, Palmyra R-1 High School, Davis County High School, Canton Junior High, Canton High School, Central Lee Middle School, Central Lee High School, Highland High School, Clark County R-1 Middle School, and the Clark County Marching Indians.
The excitement continues with the field show competition, held at Clark County High School Activity Field. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with the National Anthem and a welcome performance by the combined bands of Clark County Middle and High Schools. The competition will follow, culminating in a special exhibition by the Clark County Marching Indians, who will perform their 2024 show, *Pure Imagination*, featuring music from *Willy Wonka* and *The Greatest Showman*. Spectators can look forward to an array of musical styles, from classical compositions to musical theater and pop hits. There is an admission fee and programs will be for sale.
High schools competing in the field show include Mt. Pleasant, Schuyler County, South Shelby, Davis County, Keokuk, Quincy Senior, Hannibal, Warsaw, Knox County, Central Lee, Highland High School and Quincy Notre Dame.
