Fifer Wedding Anniversary

Don and Betty (Turner) Fifer are celebrating 68 years of marriage. The couple were married Oct. 19, 1956. They live near Ewing and are involved in farming. Both are still very active in their church, community and their family. Both enjoying good health living in their farm.
The couple had three children, Anita Fifer Durst Rathbun, who passed away in 2005 of cancer, leaving one daughter Sarah Adam and she has two children. Rodney Fifer has three children, Isaac, Derek and Anya Fifer Davis, and five grandchildren. Donnie and Sharon Fifer have three children, Donnie Ray Fifer, Shannon Fifer Hultz Sapp, Ashlee Fifer Lay Hicks and eight grandchildren. They have 15 great-grandchildren.
The day Don and Betty Fifer were married was a warm beautiful day, just like what the current weather has been. The wedding took place at the Dover Baptist Church. Alice Vaughn (Davison) and Patsy Logsdon (Johnson) were bridesmaids. Phyllis Wisemann Merrell played the piano. Candle lighters were Don’s sister Joyce Newton and Betty’s aunt Travelle Whitaker. Marvin Bringer was best man. Betty’s mother cut out and sewed her wedding dress and her grandmother Turner did all the hand work on the beautiful dress. The reception was held at the bride’s parent’s home. The newlyweds went to work on Monday after the wedding.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary with their family.
