Library Game Night

October 19, 2024

The Canton Public Library will be transformed into The Board Game Café on Tuesday,  Oct. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. Families, groups, and single gamers are welcome to drop in and sample a variety of board games for all ages. The library will provide a menu of games to choose from with recommended ages for each game. Games include classics such Uno, Sorry, and Scrabble, and more complicated games such as Disney Villainous and Horrified, a Universal Studios movie monster game. Other games include Animal Trivia Challenge, Dinosaur Escape, and even games for kids ages 2 and up.
The library will have experts on hand to lead Disney Villainous and Horrified, two games that are more complicated and are more suitable for older kids and adults. Other experienced gamers will help with any of the games participants might want to try.
“Games are a great way to further the library’s mission of enriching lives, inspiring curiosity, fostering a
passion for learning, and providing a welcoming environment where the community can explore, discover, and
learn,”said Library Director, Mary Kay Lane. “Games can teach us about the world and about ourselves. They
can teach how to add and spell. Games educate and entertain. Games can improve social skills, and for young
children, even fine and gross motor skills. There is definitely a spot for games in the library.” The library hopes to host Board Game Cafe regularly, and also hosts an after-school game club on the fourth Thursday of each month from 4:00-5:00 PM.
Refreshments will be provided. For more information, call the library at 573-288-5279.
The library is located at 403 Lewis Street in Canton. It is open Tuesday - Friday 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays
