Sue Johnson, 85 of Canton, Missouri died October 18, 2024 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. The daughter of William Herman and Helen Marie Twesten Knoche was born on August 5, 1939 in Warsaw, Illinois.
She was previously married to Richard Moore on July 24, 1959 at Warsaw, Illinois. She later married Emmett Johnson on June 5, 1995 at Canton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 10, 2001.
Sue was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton where she was involved with the church choir and kitchen committee. She was also a member of the Canton Civic Club, Lewis County Nursing Home Auxiliary, Canton P.E.O. and volunteered for the Area Agency on Aging. She studied voice in college and sang with the “Sweet Adeline’s” as well as for many weddings and funerals in the community. She owned and operated the Beauty Bazaar in Canton for 35 years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, wintering in Harlingen, Texas and she loved playing cards.
She is survived by her life companion, J.R. Coates of Canton, Mo.; three children, Keith
(Carole) Moore of Belle, Mo., Tena (Rick) Jones of LaGrange, Mo. and Jane (Mark) Depper of Albuquerque, N.M.; grandchildren, Erin Moore, Wesley (Alex) Moore, Will Moore (David Peck), Zech (Laura) Moore, Stephanie (Aaron) Neisen, Susannah (Eli) Harscher, Stephen (Jenna) Jones, James Depper; great grandchildren, Ariel Moore, Amanda Moore, Zeke, Hank Neisen, Gus Neisen, Bo Neisen, Nolan Jones, Clara Lindhurst, Lucy Moore and Mabel Moore; step children, Randy (Carol) Johnson of Ewing, Mo. and Karen (Mike) Benning of Albuquerque, NM; and several nieces &
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Virginia Sonneborn and Rose Mary McCutchan, a brother, Bill Knoche and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 7:00 PM at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Canton, Missouri with Pastor Dongjun Lee officiating and visitation beginning at 5 p.m. Honorary Pallbearers: Wesley Moore, Will Moore, Stephen Jones, Zech Moore, James Depper, Aaron Neisen and Eli Harscher.
Inurnment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, Illinois at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel United Methodist Church.
