Highland Cross Country at Inaugural Monroe City Invitational

The Highland Cross-Country team competed at Inaugural Monroe City Invitational
Cross-Country meet held at Mosswood Meadows Golf Course in Monroe City on Oct. 18. They only medaled to the top 10 runners, but the Cougars performed very well, running some of their best times and bringing home three medals.
The girls’ varsity ran first. Highland’s Sophomore, Eva Logsdon medaled in eighth place with a 24:18.7 and Freshman AJ Caudill narrowly missed a medal finishing in 15th place with a 25:32.1. In the boys’ varsity race, Nathan Caudill again finished in the top spot for the Cougars, placing 11th overall and just barely missing a medal with a 19:49.6. Sophomore, Tyler Seals finished in 17th place with a 21:41.4 and Senior Gary Wright finished in 20th place with a 22:45.7.
In the JH division, Highland’s Isabelle Richards finished 24th with a 15:41.4. Logan Frieden led all runners for a majority of the race and wound up medaling in second place overall with 9:31.8 on the 1.5-mile course. Evan Frieden was right behind his brother, medaling in third place overall for Highland with a time of 9:46.0.
On Monday, October 21, the Varsity runners headed to Salisbury. Highland brought home two meals with Nathan Caudill finishing 17th and Eva Logsdon finishing 11th . A.J. Caudill finished in 27th place, Tyler Seals finished in 45th place, Gary Wright finished in 59th place.
The Varsity squad heads to Bowling Green this Friday and the JH Boys will compete at the Middle School State Championship in Wheatland this Saturday at the Lucas Oil Speedway
