David Lyle Michel, 71, of LaBelle, Mo., died November 1, 2024, and will be terribly missed, forever loved and remembered always.He was born August 2, 1953, in Quincy, Ill., the son of Harvey Lyle and Mary Viriginia MillerMichel. He was united in marriage to the love of his life on September 6, 1974. They celebrated 42 wonderful years together before her death January 2017.
Surviving are two children Andy Michel of LaBelle, Mo., Amy (Brett) Peters of LaBelle. Two grandchildren, that was his pride and joy Brianna (John) McCutchan of LaBelle, Porter Peters of LaBelle. One great-grand child Parker Brett McCutchan. One brother Randy (Sandy) Michel, Aunt Geraldine Daak-Stinson, Mother-in-law Eva Hatfield of Knox City, Sisters-in-law Donna Cardwell of Hurdland, Susie Hatfield of Quincy, and Kathy Hatfield of Knox City, brothers-in-law David Hatfield of Edina, Donald Hatfield of
Hurdland, Virgil Hatfield of Ewing. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
David was proceeded in death by his wife Betty Michel, his parents Harvey Lyle and Mary Virginia Michel- Graham, grandparents, sister Sandra Kaye Hall, brother-in-law Ernie Hall and stepfather Clyde Graham, father-in-law Hollie Hatfield, and brother-in-law Dale Hatfield.
David received his education in LaBelle and graduated from Highland High School. David worked in his younger years for MFA in LaBelle and retired from Kelly Lime and Rock Company Newark Mo., in 2017. He was engaged in farming his whole life.
David and his wife built a life on the family farm working side by side south of LaBelle, a tradition they have passed on to their children. David was gentle, quiet, honest and a trustworthy man. He believed in traditions and was a loyal friend and neighbor. David was a good farmer who had a love of the land. He worked decades to feed us and the whole world. Rest in peace, your work here on earth is done. You’re finally home.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Mo. Reverend Elmer Hagood will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, Mo.
Casket bearers: Alan Hatfield, Darin Bronestine, Kevin Parrish, John McCutchan, Porter Peters, Christopher Sandstrom and Joey Behrmann.
Burial will be in the LaBelle Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the LaBelle Cemetery. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, MO 63447.
