C-SC Theatre Performance - Crimes of the Heart

November 07, 2024

Culver-Stockton College’s Theatre Department is thrilled to announce its
upcoming production of Crimes of the Heart, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Beth Henley.
This dark comedy about family ties and the resilience of the human spirit will be performed on
November 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m., and on November 10 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mabee Little Theatre.
There is a charge for Tickets for the general public and free for C-SC students, faculty, and
staff.
Set in the small town of Hazelhurst, Mississippi, Crimes of the Heart follows the lives of the
three Magrath sisters—Lenny, Meg, and Babe—as they reunite for the first time since Hurricane
Camille. Facing a series of unique challenges and uncovering deep-seated family tensions, the
sisters navigate love, loss, and a crime that threatens to tear their family apart. Each sister’s
personal struggles and the universal themes of family and forgiveness make this play both
moving and thought-provoking.
The production, directed by Culver-Stockton Theatre faculty, promises an intimate and heartfelt
exploration of Southern family life, combining Henley’s sharp wit and engaging dialogue with a
cast of talented C-SC students. Audiences can expect an evening of humor, heartache, and
reflection.
