Canton Library Grant

January 09, 2025

The Canton Public Library received $1,179.42 from the Community Foundation Serving Western Illinois and Northeast Missouri. The payment represents the annual distribution from the Canton Public Library Fund as managed by the Community Foundation. Funds will be used to purchase new books, e-materials, and other circulating items for the library, as well as to further the library’s mission to foster a passion for reading and lifelong learning.
The Canton Public Library Fund was started by Sam Calvert, in honor of his mother Jean, his high school
English teacher, Ruth Schryver, and Mary Morris, the Canton Public Library Librarian when Sam was a child. “I think public libraries are important to their communities,” says Calvert, “and I hope you will support this one.”
