Lady Cougars Win Lanzini Championship

The Highland Lady Cougars won first place in the annual Palmyra Tony Lenzini Basketball Tournament played Jan. 20-25 at Palmyra. The Canton Tigers won third place and the Canton Lady Tigers won consolation.
Highland girls were seeded second and won over Clark County in the first round, then won over Monroe City to advance to the championship game. The Lady Cougars won against Hannibal to take first place. Canton Lady Tigers lost to Hannibal, defeated Van Far and won against Brookfield to win the consolation prize. The Canton Tigers won their first game against Brookfield, lost second round against Monroe City and won third place against Van Far. The Highland boys team lost to top seeded Palmyra in the first round, won against Hannibal in their second game and lost to Clark County in the consolation bracket.
